Security Companies Demand More Cost Effective GPS Systems in Harder Times

Until now security companies have had to rely on expensive GPS systems to perform their functions. These systems could cost thousands to install and maintain. With the recent economic downturn all businesses have had to address how savings can be made.

NEWRY, N. IRELAND, March 18, 2009 /Mobile Computing and PDA PR News/ -- The development of new GPS phone tracker software is helping the security industry drastically reduce costs. They can now avail of software that can be loaded onto most GPS mobile phones. The problems in costs of providing both mobile and tracking equipment are solved. In addition this mobile software has the added flexibility of being handheld rather than fixed to a vehicle.

KoolTrax turns Windows Mobile and Nokia N95 GPS cell phones (or equivalent) into trackers, enabling their exact location to be monitored on the Internet or on another mobile PDA. Software compatible with i-phone and Blackberry GPS cell phones is due to be rolled out in April.

The software can be downloaded from the internet and incorporates all the features that can be found on Blue Tree's Blue Ranger tracking unit. Virtual fence and speed alerts can be set up and all tracking history is visible. KoolTrax lets you monitor as many licensed devices as you want all on one screen.

KoolTrax tracking software is live and continuous. Geo Positioning Satellite signals are sent to the unit every eight seconds and can determine the position of the cell tracker to within four metres.

Mike Smuts, Managing Director of Blue Tree Services commented: "We found that Security Companies had problems in the amount of kit they needed their staff to carry and the costs associated with this. It is not unusual for Security Companies to purchase mobile phones for their staff, being contactable is an essential part of the job. In an emergency however staff need to send an alarm quickly and so need a tracker so they can be found. This is the perfect two in one product. New versions for Blackberry and i-phone are planned for April."
